What I Wore: The Big Cats Edition

Ok, I know this is my year of limiting my spending and not really buying anything new, but yes this sweater is new. Before you quarter me, I did buy it before the new year. It just happened to get here after. Now that's not my fault is it? Being a lover of leopard print and cats it stands to reason that other big cats would catch my attention too and they do. All the time actually. Lions, jaguars, tigers, you name it and I've probably got some fashion item with it. So you can understand that when I saw this sweater of a tiger wearing a bow tie I had to have it. I mean really? Is it not freaking adorable?

Monday Design: Masterful Color Combinations

I've finally started to repaint my apartment from all the crazy colors that it's been for the past year or so and it's coming along slowly. Which is giving me time to second guess myself. Of course, I've been dreaming of getting the white walls back for months and now that it's finally happening, I feel like I'm going to miss the colors! What is wrong with me people? Indecisive much? I realize though that my color combination skills are not so great and the real reason I hate the colorful apartment is that nothing matches, not that it's colorful. I should take some lessons from this color conscious couple who live in a beautifully decorated Los Angeles home that has bright colors and prints everywhere and yet still manages to look wonderfully put together.

Photo Friday: The Daydreamer's World

I keep it no secret that I'm a book nerd. I have nothing to be ashamed of! Well, and it's really hard to keep secret as I gush over everything book related. Naturally this photography series by Joel Robison caught my attention right away.

What I Wore: The Unconventional Office Wear Edition

As I mentioned at the start of the year, 2013 is the year of shopping my closet! And I haven't broken my resolution yet, although it's already been tough. I don't think I have enough winter appropriate clothes. I have a TON of cardigans though. Like, an absurd amount. So I'm playing around with what I have and trying to be creative with my outfits.

Monday Design: Winter Perfect Pastels

So in the midst of getting over the death flu that everyone has contracted, I've been spending a lot of time at home scheming and plotting design changes for my apartment (an apartment that I might be moving out of in April, yes, I'm insane). This past weekend I finally started repainting the walls and it was super exciting! It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. Now, I've been living in a sort of Barney playroom apartment with every room being two different colors for a little over a year. I also had pretty bright colored furniture for a while from a time where I lived in a dark basement apartment. Well, the bright red couch has been replaced with a subtle grey one and the walls are going back to white! Now my biggest dilemma is what color scheme I want to change to.

After a year of living in a rainbow, I've been really drawn in to subtle color palates which is why this pastel home decor really caught me eye. I love that there are still splashes of color but it's all so subtle that the design is still clean.

Monday Design: New York Ranches

I'm typing this from California today where it is actually freezing, but I thought it would be appropriate to have a real California style home tour up, except I fell in love with the ranch in New York instead. Oh well. It totally reminds me of something I would imagine being a California home so that counts right? P.s. sorry for the weird formatting today. Blogger is not cooperating on iPad. The challenges of being a blogger on the go, I guess.

Photo Friday: Walking on Clouds

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to walk through a cloud? Or did you dream of actually having clouds floating above your head as you drifted off to sleep in your bedroom? Well, apparently so did Berndnaut Smilde. Except he did more than just dream, he made it happen.

What I Wore: The Heavy Lockdown Edition

Happy 2013 to everyone! This is my second post of the new year, officially, and I feel some weird sense of pressure to make it awesome. I think I'm going to let myself down. HOWEVER, I do feel the incredible need to make 2013 awesome, so here I come world! Er...blogger?

Anyway, I skipped putting up my New Year's outfit since I was super sick with the plague right after the New Year, but my outfit wasn't that exciting anyway so forget that idea. Instead I'm just putting up a plain, old, borring winter shorts outfit. F.Y.I. if you're tall, wearing shorts and a baggy sweater makes you look like you're all legs. #WIN

Photo Friday: Darkened Cities

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2013. Good news is, I'm not dead. Bad news is, I still feel like death. It's been a rough start for me in 2013 since it seems like I've caught the plague and have had to maintain blogging silence for a bit. I hope no one noticed or missed me too much. ;)

Now I'm that I'm recuperating, it's back to business as usual. So what do you say we start of 2013 with some pretty pictures of the world's biggest cities without any electricity?

Photo Friday: The Great Midwest

As I mentioned in my last post, I spent a little weekend up in snowy Wisconsin for the holiday and I spent a lot of that time knitting and taking pictures. It's amazing how much you can get done when there's no cell reception or Internet.

What I Wore: The Holiday Getaway Edition

My parents have been going up to Wisconsin every weekend since I can remember. When I was younger it was fun to get away and play by the lake. As I got older, I of course didn't want to do anything but stay in the city and hang out with my friends  - like most normal jerky teenagers. And they were oh so nice and let me stay while they went away for the weekends. Yes, you read that right, a teenager alone on the weekends. I promise I didn't cause too much trouble.

A Very Merry Christmas

It's been one long year. I feel very lucky to have what I have and very lucky to be able to write this little blog and have someone listening. Thank you to everyone that reads this every once in a while. You keep me up late typing away and I love it. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying a great holiday!

Photo Friday: Up Close

When it comes to photography, interior design or otherwise, I'm obsessed with color composition and details. Just like many of the shots by photographer Brett Stevens. Or rather, almost all of the shots. I can't accurately describe how gorgeous all of these shots are. The color composition is absolutely beautiful. I love how many of the shots are photographed with one color scheme in mind. Enough blabber, just look at this photography...
