What I Wore: The 60s Shift Edition
Ah, estate sale shopping. That is the life. If my day job could be hunting for gems at estate sales, I'd be one happy camper. Unfortunately, it's just a hobby for now, but when you hit a jackpot it's oh-so-satisfying! I stumbled across a gorgeous collection that belonged to a little stylish lady who travled a lot in her lifetime with her husband. The collection of souvenir plates in their home was out of this world. But, naturally, I gravitated towards the closets and I was not disappointed. This little number is definitely one of my favorites that I picked up recently. So simple, yet so eye catching with it's delicately detailed collar and sleeves.

New Year, New Start, New You!
Well, we did it folks! One more year behind us. Busy, quick, eye-opening - 2013 was a lot of things, but it's definitely helping me realize what I want 2014 to be. One thing I wish I had done more in 2013 was blog. Somewhere between starting a new job and making new friends, I lost the time and the urge to create. I think now, closer to a new start, I'm finding it again. With that, more blogging and more tutorials!

What I Wore: The Twiggy Edition
Nothing makes me less happy like an amazing vintage dress that almost fits. I mean, come on fashion gods! Do me a solid? This vintage 60s shift dress is the most adorable thing I've come across in a while and my boobs are just not cooperating. Frustration!

Vintage Finds: Fall Ready
I don't usually talk about my Etsy shop on here even though that was the entire reason I started this blog in the first place (go figure). There are just so many other fun things on the internet to talk about that my own stuff falls through the cracks. But today I just had to. Why? Because I have so much new (vintage) stuff that's been listed or marked down for fall!

Huge Vintage Haul for the Store!
I am so excited about the stuff I picked up for the Etsy store a couple weekends ago that I just had to share some of it with you guys!
For those of you that don't know, I run a vintage Etsy shop with the same name as this blog. So a few weekends ago I was very graciously invited to a private selling event by Take 2 Vintage and I knew I needed to at least check it out. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was so glad I went! I picked up some amazing pieces to add to the store!
After that, I was totally in the mood to go thrifting so I hopped by a few of my favorite spots and picked up a few more amazing pieces to add to my vintage haul (along with a couple things for myself). All in all it was a great weekend for the store.
Of course, with my GRE test finally coming up this Saturday, I haven't hada a whole lot of time to edit photos so none of this is up in the store yet and all of the photos of the vintage clothes need some seriously lighting help. This is just the super secret sneak preview. Feel free to leave a comment if you see anything that you definitely want to call dibs on. Otherwise, check back in the store next week for all the items from this vintage haul!

I try on all of the clothes in the shop when I'm measuring them to get a gauge for how they fit since vintage sizes have changed so much over the years. It can be hard to list something as a size 12 when it really fits like a 6, so I just plop everything on over my clothes to give a Small/Medium/Large reference. This is why I'm wearing some of the clothes from the haul. This pink dress above is one I almost kept once I put it on (a horrible hazard of owning a vintage shop). It's so cute! The cut is totally Joan from Madmen and the tiny dark pink print on the light pink give it just a little something extra to not be borring.

I love this top! This shape is actually really popular this summer, but it just makes me think of picnic photos from the 1960s. Add some high-waisted jeans and a bandana in my hair and I'm ready!

Don't these two make a sweet combination?

How 60s boho-chic is this vintage orange floral tunic?
And that's just a snap shot, I still probably have double this amount to put up and 5 or 10 things that I haven't even photographed yet. Phew. Once this GRE test is finally over I'm going to dedicate a day just to getting the store in order. It's going to be a lot of work, but hopefully it'll all be worth it.
I hope you saw something you liked! If it's not in the store soon, yell at me in the comments ;)

Vintage Haul for the Esty Store
I finally got a chance to get some new merchandise for the Etsy store and I'm excited about it! I have some work to do taking pictures, editing and getting everything listed, but I thought I'd give a sneak peek here.
Oh and before I forget I have a coupon running right now. Enter FALLFUN at checkout and get 15% off of your order! No pressure, just something to think about ;)
So, if you've stopped by the store you should know that I recommend a size for all of the clothes that I list and that's based on how they fit me. Generally, I fit in a Medium so I try to give and idea based on that. That's just a little back story for the following pictures. Please note that, no, I did not take off what I was already wearing before trying these pieces on. I am much too lazy for that.
Ok, I know this shirt doesn't look fantastic in this picture, but it's actually really cute. It's just a tad big on me, but it has the cutest pleats in the front and on the collar.
I have to admit I love this dress and am debating keeping it. The sleeves are a little too short on me, but it fits great, is in fantastic condition and has pockets! I'm a sucker for anything with pockets. This is definitely a vintage dress worth holding on to.
I love the beading in this vintage clutch. Once I get this posted you can see all the details, but it's pretty stained inside and on the back. The front is surprisingly unharmed so I had to get it. It was just too pretty. I think someone else will appreciate it as much as me.
That is probably my downfall a lot of times. If I find an item that has some damage, but is amazing and I think still has a lot of wear left I usually pick it up. So we'll see about the vintage clutch, but I'm hoping I wasn't wrong.
Here's a peek at everything in this latest haul. I have a ton of stuff from a previous one that's not up yet either, but I didn't take any fun photos there. Since I do all my Etsy work at my parents' house because they have more space I'm usually rushing to get out of there.
Oh I really wish I took a picture of me in that first vintage red dress with the collar. 1) The fit was AMAZING. 2) It reminded me of old super hero costumes from like the 60s. I'm not sure why, my skinny blond friend did not agree, but he obviously has no imagination. Anyway, I'm using this blog post as incentive to get on the ball and actually list these things on Etsy, so get on me about it please! I can use all the help I can get.
Until next time!
