Photo Friday: Bathed in Light

It's been a long week. Err, I guess when isn't it a long week? With the holidays on my tail, most days are spent juggling several to do lists. But I'm sure you're feeling a whole lot of the same right now. In a blur of Christmas ornaments and tree farms, I found this gorgeous set of photos of forests bathed in sunlight and fog by Boguslaw Strempel and all of them seemed oddly calming so I had to share them with you all.

Sunday Moment of Zen: Chicago Lovin'

Happy Sunday! I found this great little timelapse video of my home sweet home Chicago comprised of over 30,000 photographs from around the city. For those of you who have never been to Chicago, this video shows a lot of my favorite parts. For those of you that have, enjoy!

Sunday Moment of Zen: Guide to Life (in 10 Steps)

Not that I want to be the crazy cat lady, but I'm a crazy cat lady so check this out. It's for anyone that needs a little reminder to take a step back and enjoy life. Hope you're having a great Sunday!

Sunday Moment of Zen: Burberry Fall/Winter 2012

I know I'm jumping the gun again in talking about fall and winter already, but you know as well as I that the store are starting to stack up on sweaters, blazers, and all things pre-fall already. So there's no use ignoring it, it's time to get excited! The question is, which collection to be most excited about seeing ripped off in store like H&M and Forever21? For me it's the Autumn/Winter Burberry collection. And it has been since it debuted in early spring of this year, so you know I'm in love. I just adore the full bodied shape of the coats and that this fall collection is bringing back the belted coat. The collection of belts is adorable as well - big statement bows and animal heads. My goal for the winter is to find a similar elastic belt with a big wolf head buckle like in the picture below. How awesome would that be (inner squeeeeeeeee)?

Sunday Moment of Zen: Love is Making It's Way Back Home

This song is cute all on it's own, but the video makes it great. The things that artists can do with laser cut paper never ceases to amaze me. I can't even comprehend the amount of planning and and time that went into setting up and filming this video. But I guess that's why I don't create brilliant things like this, I just enjoy them. And I want you to enjoy it too! So go ahead. Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday!

Sunday Moment of Zen: Melvin the Mini Postcard Making Machine

I've been holding on to this video for a while. A few months or so I'd say. I found it online then and knew I wanted to share it with you all because it's entirely absurd, but too cute. This design studio HEYHEYHEY build mini machines in their free time, apparently (what lucky jerks) and this was one they build a few months ago. "Conveniently" housed in two cute vintage suitcases, this Melvin is a self addressing postcard making machine! It only take about 5 minutes to set up and get a postcard made. Easy right? Well, granted it may not be the most practical machine in the world, it is portable and make for an adorable video.

Would you ever use this machine?

Sunday Moment of Zen: Handcrafted Rings

In true me fashion, I've been on kind of a shopping frenzy lately. Well, more of a window shopping frenzy, but still. I've been looking at and lusting over lots of things. In my explorations of the internet, I found this really beautifully put together video showcasing some gorgeously crafted and original rings. The theme here is unusual engagement ring ideas, but I would wear any one of these engagement or no engagement. Anyway, since I've been kind of an absent blogger, I thought I'd share this pretty video with you.

Hope you're enjoying a wonderfully sunny weekend!

Sunday Moment of Zen: Spring and Summer Fashion

Does anyone else stress shop or is that just me? It's such a catch22 when I'm stressed over money, but have the urge to buy pretty new things to keep myself distracted! Oh the torture! Well, not really but it does kind of such. So while I'm waiting to win the lottery, I guess I'll just do some online window shopping.

This is a video of the spring and summer collection from Ayres and I totally love it. It's a little bit menswear and military cut, which seems perfect for a summer in the desert. I love the neutrals paired with bright pops of neon colors instead of doing the whole neon explosion thing that's been so hot for this spring. I'm definitely still in the market for a small structured neon cross body bag, but I think I've had a neon overload. I have to try some of the looks from this video though. Oh yea, I'm ready for summer to get started.

Sunday Moment of Zen: Nature Break

Sunday, oh lazy Sunday. Here's a little something pretty and colorful for you. Living in the city I don't get to see much forest, so I take what little escapes from urban life I can get. This little video is of Yosemite National Park in the Fall.

Enjoy! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Sunday Moment of Zen: Mini Life in Kiev

Ok, I did this once to you already so the jig is up (yes, I really just said that).  I love miniature things! There I admitted it! My shameful secret is out! So now you understand why I am subjecting you to these videos of big things made little for the second time. But look how cute this town in Ukraine looks! Alright, enough out of me. It's Sunday so here's your moment of zen, hope it makes you smile!

Sunday Moment of Zen: The Biggest Tiny Carnival

If you haven't seen the tilt shift effect used online yet, you've probably been living under a rock. Or you spend less time online than I do. Either way, it's a really cool photo effect that allows you to make real-life events look like you're watching animated miniatures. This video, The City of Samba, is the best and most fun example of it I've seen. So sit back and watch a miniature carnival unfold in front of your eyes.

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Moment of Zen: Northern Lights

Man I love the weekend. Why can't there be less week and more weekend? Well anyway, if you're already thinking forward to the week to come (like I keep doing for some crazy reason), here's a little moment of zen to ease your thoughts and help you keep enjoying the weekend.

Seeing the northern lights is definitely on my bucket list. I still have some time, but I want to plan it sometime soon. Can you imagine actually seeing the aurora borealis when you look up? Gotta do it.

Have any of you ever actually seen the Northern Lights?
