I love the water. Moving closer to the lake was something I was more than excited about. One of the first things I did when we moved in to our new apartment was take out my camera and take in the scenery.

Take a Walk Through a Rainbow

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk through a rainbow? Well Schmidt/Hammer/Lassen Architects  have created an amazing rainbow glass panoramic rooftop to do just that. So, if you're ever in Denmark go to the tipy-top of the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum and you can get a panoramic view like you've never seen before. Every few steps gives you a different colored perspective. Very cool. I imagine I'd have to see what it looks like in all weather conditions to see how the light penetrates through the glass panels. I'm a very visual person. Generally, I have a tendency to drool over museum architecture because it's endlessly intricate and always visually appealing. Who wants to go into a dark and dreary place that looks like it's falling apart? This is why museums spend so much time and money on the architecture, it's a case where the thing itself is why you pay money to gain access inside. Smart Denmark. I'm keeping one eye on you.

What I Wore Wednesday: Simply Chic Edition

Welcome to another Wednesday outfit post! I, personally, don't think this one is super exciting. I was keeping it simple, which I do on rare occasions. I love this dark blue tunic. The asymmetrical hem and flowing sleeves make it more interesting that just a regular t-shirt tunic. Oh yea, and that low back is sexy huh? This is an outfit that I actually wear to work pretty often, so you can see how casual my job is. Oh, and please ignore the horrible wrinkles in my tunic, it was a lazy day and I was laying around with the roommate right before. Anyway, on to the photos. Let me know what you think!

 I love these DKNY boots. They were a complete splurge when I had some loan money left over from studying abroad in France. They are incredibly comfortable and easy to wear, gotta love that!

The red pea coat was definitely necessary this day, it's getting pretty frigid here in Chicago. Looks like I'm going to have to pick out more outfits that revolve around my limited coat options. :sigh:: I know, what a tough life I live right? Well, that's all I've got for you today.

VINTAGE and NOW

My insanely fashionable and wonderful fashion school friend dropped this bomb of knowledge on me one day: "Fashion moves like a pedulum." WHOA. Is your mind blown?

It's pretty common knowledge that fashion trends recycle over time. The 70s were back in full swing last Spring and this Spring I'm seeing 60s inspired cuts across designers. It can be a damaging thing to realize if you're a pack rat like me, because I hold on to clothes I love FOREVER. Why? Because you never know when it'll come back in style. A concept my ::ahem:: roommate consistently fails to understand. EX:
"Get rid of that vest, you never wear vests"
"I don't wear it NOW, because I'm not going for the tailored thing right NOW"
::blank stare:: "Well, you could just buy a new one when you decide to use it in your wardrobe again"
"Why would I buy a new one when I have a perfectly good one right here? This is a staple. I don't use it all the time, but it needs to live in my closet for when it becomes necessary again"
"That makes no sense"
"YOU make no sense!"

And that's how I successfully conduct an argument. And this ends my tirade.

In the spirit of this idea, I've decided to try something new on the blog called VINTAGE and NOW. It's sort of self-explanatory, but I always browse these runway shows and think "that's so (insert era here)". Now I'm going to catalog it. By the way, this would be a fun idea for all you vintage queens out there who still love being on the cusp of trends.

I know that the runways are showing pre-fall right now (nuts right?), but my brain can't possibly think that far ahead in the middle of winter. Spring is as far as I'm will to go. Besides, I figure that gives you plenty of time to stock your closet full of 60s favorites or pull yours out of storage. Right? Right.

Squeeze in: The Biggest 10-foot Wide House You've Ever Seen

I was in some level of shock and awe when I first saw this 10 foot wide house on 1KindDesign. Seriously, the imaginations of people always really surprise me, mostly because I'm not particularly imaginative or creative, but I have always wished I was. Anyway, when I saw this impossibly narrow red house I was amazed with how well spaced and designed it was. I would love to live here and for a mere $849,000 you can! Oh, if I were rich.

Ok, enough of my babble. On to the pictures!

Oh yes, did I forget to mention this house comes with a wine cellar? $849,00 starting to sound anymore reasonable? No? Yea, not for me either, BUT this house is still gorgeous. I love the how the bright red accents carry from the exterior to the interior. It's a great use of space and has really made me re-think the layout of my tiny apartment. A big tumbs up to this one!

Sunday iPhone Outfit

So since the gathering the equipment and personnel necessary to do a photo shoot is so difficult, by that I mean finding a day that both my boyfriend and I have off together, I'm going to do an iPhone outfit a week. Yay iPhones! Mostly because you guys seem to love the outfit posts. And that's not just me being vain, blogger showed me the numbers.

So here's attempt number 1!

 So this was a little weird. My jeans found Jesus. But you know, I have to give respect to a company who utilizes their merchandise to promote what they believe in, as long as it's a good thing. For example, I will not buy jeans that promote killing baby seals, but I'm cool with God. So good for you Flying Monkey! I may not agree with you, but you make some great jeans so thanks.

Photo Friday: Fading Light

It's nights like these that make me love Chicago again.

AHHHHH! Holiday season is upon me and I am starting to feel like an overwhelmed crazy person. I can't imagine you know the feeling. Now, I'm going to share with you something that is a major problem in my life: I am a stress shopper. Yes, folks. I am admitting it. When the going gets tough, I get to shopping. Which is awful considering it's holiday season and I should be shopping for OTHERS (insert spirit of giving lecture here). But anyway, to relieve some of that holiday stress, I decided to go holiday dress shopping! Makes sense right? Right. 

Holiday dresses can be so hard to shop for. They're too short or too skanky or too expensive. Well I've tried to put together a list of inexpensive holiday dresses that will fit the bill for whatever party you have planned this year. So, here we go:
