Monday Design: The Classical Space

It's been a very long time since I've blogged here and it feels good to be back. In the midst of a rabid job hunt I had to put blogging on the back burner. But I've now found a new job (go me!) and here I am! So let's get right back to it, shall we?

Now this is an apartment in Barcelona and I'm having a love/hate relationship with. Obviously, the rounded living room is a huge draw, but really it's those windows! The stained glass window details throughout the apartment really make this place feel opulent and unique.

The dome shape to the living room also really makes that room the focal point of the apartment. I'm totally in love with the floral details in the molding on the ceiling as well. It's really all these left over details in this old building that give the space a feeling of richness and character.

Now that I've gushed over the stained glass window, let's chat about the interior design. Look, I get the juxtaposition of modern style and straight lines in this very detailed building, but really I think it takes away from the space as a whole. I would have liked to see at least some rich, jewel tone colors pulled into this one. But then again, I also love design that has a whole lot going on, so maybe we shouldn't listen to me.

Regardless, look at this outdoor space. I'll take it! When can I move in?

Found on Plante Deco.

Do you think the modern furniture goes well with the classic style building?
