Interior Design: Living in a Library

How is it November already? I think I blinked and missed all of summer this year. It's strange how much faster time flies the older you get. With every immaculately designed house I find, I think about the bits and pieces I'd like to incorporate into my own home one day and with every day that goes by, that becomes more of a reality. How weird is that? To think that one day I could own a living space that's not the size of a shoebox is crazy. 

Anyway, the point of all that babble was this home design. Ever since I was little and I saw my first high shelves with a rolling ladder, I decided that one day I was going to have the same thing in my house. Mostly because it reminded me of that magical library in Beauty in the Beast and that's what every little girl who reads wants to see (amirite?). The dream has not died for me and when I saw this home design it screamed my name.

What I Wore: On The Road Edition

Now, I don't know how obvious I've made this so far, but I'm a huge book nerd. I collect novels and read, probably to a fault. Which is why I was excited to find out that one of the most popular beat novels was being turned into a movie. On the Road is not one of my favorite novels, but it sure is entertaining and when I found this shirt from Out of Print Clothing, it had such a cool design I just had to add it to my wardrobe.

This editorial from Elle France hits right at the heart of me. It combines three of my most favorite things in the whole world - vintage fashion, literature, and fashion photography. Oh! AND is was in Elle France of course and I am obsessed with all things french. So basically, this whole shoot was meant for me to drool over and it was a success.

I actually didn't love The Great Gatsby when I read it the first time in high school. It didn't grow on me until I had to read more Fitzgerald later on in college and I just became enamored with the Fitzgerald style. Now, I am more than excited to see the movie. Anyway, this fashion editorial is gorgeous. I love that opulent 20s glam and ease they captured. There is no denying the outfits are gorgeous and who wouldn't want to be at this party?

Turning Old Novels into Literary Jewels

I've made a not-so-great effort to hide that I'm a huge book nerd. My bookcases (yes multiple) are constantly overflowing and I get rid of nothing after I read it. So when I saw this awesome jewelry artist, Jeremy May, I thought "I need these!" May creates jewelry pieces by cutting pages out of novels, carving them into shape, and them laminating them into place. And he gets the most interesting and intricate designs out of it. See for yourself.

Confessions of a Book Nerd - The Bookcase Design Edition

I'm going to start out with a little background before I jump into this post. I graduated a few years ago with a degree in English Literature and I love books. I practically collect them considering I never get around to reading most of them. Instead of trying to catch up on reading I continue to add to my collection, which is currently at somewhere around 400 probably. I tried counting one day out of curiosity, but lost interest. Before getting my current job, I seriously considered becoming a librarian for a little while since most of my friends call me one anyway (and I do think there is something interesting in the curriculum required), but the job market decided to be kind to me.

So now perhaps it makes a little more sense why I would immediately start drooling over a site called BookcasePorn.com. Ok, I wasn't actually drooling, but I did get far more excited than most normal people would. This post is dedicated to just that, bookcase design. Something I adore looking at because I'm always at a loss for space when it comes to storing my books (a problem almost as big as where to put my clothes in my apartment). So here's a little day dreaming about one day being organized enough that I can find my books by author (HA! who am I kidding? I'll never be that organized). And if bookcases aren't your thing, sorry. There are still some pretty pictures though!
