What to Wear: Spring Inspiration

I'm so ready for spring and yet I'm so stuck in winter! It's not quite warm enough to get rid of the jackets or leg coverings just yet, but it is warm enough to ditch the heavy sweaters and thick boots. So what's a girl to do? Since I was feeling so utterly outfit un-inspired, I thought I would use the internet time to find and share inspiration! That is what the internet is for right?

I actually don't love any of the spring trends this year. I do love that the fashion designers had tried to steer away from the average flowers, nautical, and pastels. However, you still can find plenty of those on the runways. There are a few things circling that I wouldn't mind adding to my closet:

Black and White

1. , 2. , 3. , 4.

Of course I have black and white items in my closet. Who doesn't? But these high contrast piece call black and white into a pattern or theme and I love that. I want a pair of these black and white striped jeans for spring so bad! Minus a few extra zippers, they remind so much of my punk rock days in high school, but grown up and sophisticated.  However, I wonder if they look good on anyone that's not a size 2. Thoughts? Since colors are usually the big spring trend every year, I was kind of surprised to see this pop up as a spring trend for 2013. But I guess there is a huge emphasis on mixing patterns so bringing black and white into the mix simplifies things.

Low Heels

I am a huge fan of heels. BIG heels! And at 5'9" that is not easy to pull off at the bar with all your 5'5" friends. Let me just say this, they get mad. But this spring the big trend in fashion that I am actually really into are these low, wide heels. They're still fun and trendy with a little bit of lift and I'm surprisingly okay with that. Low heeled shows for the win! Now if only someone could convince me that flats don't make me look frumpy....

Ruffles and Frills

Girls get your girly on! Frills are everywhere this spring (and possibly every spring in fashion?). I'm not huge on super girlie clothes or fashion, but I do love mixing and matching a little bit of girlie with a little bit of tough. So I think I smell some version of frills with a pleather jacket outfit popping up soon. 

This, of course, is not it when it comes to spring fashion. There are plenty of other trends like mixing prints and boy blazers, but flowers are always fair game. As always, there are lots of trends out there not because you should work them all, but because you should find the ones that work the best for you and throw the rest to the dogs. That being said, I'm off to hunt for a black and white pair of skinny jeans and, damn it, I will make them work.
