What I Wore: The Thigh High Edition

Don't I look mad today? It was starting to rain and I was trying to get this shoot done as fast as possible so forgive me for looking so moody. Anyway, today's focus is thigh highs! Fun right? Okay so I recently got another tattoo and it happens to be on my thigh (no close ups but you can see a glimpse below) and I realized that healing it while wearing leggings or tights might be kind of annoying. However, it's also getting pretty cold here in Chicago so going bare legged is not an option for the chronically cold. My solution? Thigh highs, naturally.

Oversized brown sweater - local boutique, but here's a fun sweater with a similar shape (also worn in this post and this post)
Geometric print skirt - local boutique (but here's a fun one too)
Thigh high socks - Target
Little burgundy suede booties - Urban Outfitters

It turns out that Target has a pretty sweet selection of thigh high socks for fairly cheap. Which was perfect because I wasn't expecting to like them as much as I do now. I thought I would wear them around for a week with longer skirts until my tattoo was done scabbing and then switch back to my trusting leggings for the winter. However, once I played around with wearing them I totally love them! I was really worried about rocking the little-school-girl look no matter what kind of outfit I was wearing and that's not a look I'm going for. IT took some practice, but with the right dress or skirt/sweater combination, I don't feel like I'm wearing a naughty Halloween costume. Success!

I also added a blonde streak a la Christina Perry or Kate Nash ( more Kate Nash) and it's not quite as blonde as I wanted it yet, but I'm working on it. Once I've got it down, I'll share the tutorial with everyone.
Oops, there's my tattoo (I really hope my parents aren't reading this).

What do you think? Thigh highs: Trendy or Trashy?
