What I Wore: The Magnificent Mile Edition

Oh Chicago, you manage to steal my heart again and again. Maybe it's been the weather getting slightly cooler and the fall items hanging in all the shops on Michigan Ave, but I've been loving going downtown and walking around the city. It's reminded me how lucky I am to live in such a fun and dynamic city. And that I love hot chocolate.

It was starting to get a little chilly so I threw together a long sweater skirt with a sheer top. A little mixing and matching of textures and prints is perfect for this sort of not-quite-summer, not-quite-fall weather. But, of course, I was shopping around for additions to my new fall wardrobe, so everything I'm wearing today is from last season with the exception of these booties from Target. So I can't really give you outfit details this time around, sorry guys! Also, apparently I really love pairing this leopard print shirt and Jason Wu for Target bag together because it's also in this outfit post. Oops. Goes well together though, no?

Anyway, this outfit was also a practice on mixing prints - something I am terrible at. So I'm taking baby steps! Very baby steps. I kept everything in a neutral color scheme and both prints were pretty subtle, even the leopard print, which is hard to do. I started with the basic tips for mixing prints: they need to have something in common. I figured I was pretty safe with neutrals and minimal prints.

Of course, I can't have an outfit without lots of jewelry. Maybe one day. Maybe that should be my next challenge.

Special thanks to my photographer of the day

How do you mix prints?

P.s. Stranger Than Vintage is on Facebook! Have you liked my page yet? I'm almost to 100 so I'm getting a little giddy ;)

  1. I don't really mix prints, but I love the way you did here. And the jewelry is amazing! :)
