What I Wore: The Fall Color Blocking Edition

Color blocking is not my strong suit. It seems so simple right? A few colors on top of each other, no problem. Wrong. I think I own too many prints to successfully color block at any point. However, I do love the way that large blocks of color can bring an outfit to life all on their own. Color blocking is the one trend that I always feel stand perfectly on it's own and needs limited accessories (shocking, I know). So how do I color block? I cheat. And you can too!

Now how can you cheat in color blocking you ask? Well, that's an incredibly simple answer: buy already color blocked pieces like these. Easy right? It takes all the thought out of it so if you're like me - color block challenged - you can still just as easily pull it off. I did add the dark teal sweater all on my own because I didn't want to add another color from the dress, thought it would look too matchy-matchy. What do you think? Too much?

This dress is also bringing me one step closer to realizing my dream of becoming a 60s mod dream. I'm excited.

Oh, don't forget that there's a giveaway on the blog right now!

How confident are you in color blocking?

And I love it how the red collar bit matches the red circle behind you. :D

I'm pretty sure that background behind you is a Japanese flag!

    1. Thanks! Haha I never thought of it that way. It's not actually, it's just a big red dot on the door to my old job but it does absolutely look like it could be the Japanese flag.

  3. I almost bought this same dress in Philly a few weeks ago and now I'm SUPER pissed I didn't. I totally forgot to mention that we actually have a few of the same clothes haha I have the Jason Wu for Target dress too but its massive on me (I didn't try it on bc the store was nuts).
    ANYWAY
These photos are awesome, the location is awesome, I'm seething with jealousy over your dress...

    1. Haha we obviously need to go shopping together! You might still be able to find this dress online...somewhere? The shop I bought it from still carries it. I bet you can get a second chance with it! And thank you for your super sweet compliments :)
